Anyone interested in nutrition and fitness will know the importance of protein. It's essential for building, maintaining and repairing muscles, skin, hair and bones – and the more active you are, the more protein you'll need. Our bodies don't store protein so we need to make sure we're getting enough on a daily basis. It's better to spread our intake throughout the day so our bodies can use it as they need it.
If you follow a vegan diet, it's even more important to ensure you're getting enough protein. As well as eating plenty of beans, lentils, quinoa, nuts and soy products (all great sources of plant-based protein), you might want to consider supplementing your diet with a protein powder, especially if you work out regularly.
SCITEC NUTRITION Pure Form Vegan Protein is an all-natural, organic powder made with plant proteins - pea, rice, coconut, pomegranate and pumpkin proteins, to be exact - and naturally sweetened with stevia. It doesn't contain any added sugar or aspartame (which unfortunately most protein powders do) and is gluten-, dairy-, lactose- and GMO-free. It's available in two flavours: chocolate and hazelnut toffee.
I received a tub of the chocolate flavour to review, which I was really happy about. Give me anything chocolate and I'm on board! What I loved about this product (apart from the fact that it's completely natural) is that it tastes just like a regular protein powder - if no-one told you it was vegan, you wouldn't know the difference. I also like that it's not at all grainy or claggy, but smooth and creamy (and a little bit like a dessert). It's such good quality that I'm going to be reaching for this over any other protein powder in the future.
So if you're looking to up your protein intake, you need to know that there are alternatives to whey protein powders out there - and SCITEC's vegan protein is a pretty good one. I'm definitely a convert.
